Bubble Economies - Luke Brennan
Luke Brennan is a visual artist whose work germinates primarily within the constructs of painting. He was born in Perth and now lives in Sydney. He graduated from the Sydney College of the Arts with First Class Honours in 2017.
'Bubble economies' presents recent paintings and drawings that use organic materials and biomorphic forms to cause disruptions in the flat surface of the painted picture, the wall, a rectangle, or a world. Decayed over time, underneath the elements, these surfaces are rotted, redrawn, and washed down the sink. Naturally they appear like relics – faded or desaturated, their definitions are loose and undefined. So what remains underneath this patina, and what's been pushed to the edge? Where exactly is this world of fantasy. And who is allowed in.
